Stress we know can be both good and bad for us. Having a challenge, meeting deadlines and completing what is required of us can feel very satisfying. However, when we hit the zone of experiencing 'bad stress' for a prolonged period of time it can feel as though our 'wheels are starting to come of'. We no longer feel well or function healthily. Physical symptoms such as headaches, sweats, digestion issues and a lack of energy are common. It takes its toll on us mentally and emotionally. At times this maybe unavoidable subject to life events, but it can be hugely difficult to cope with.
I frequently support clients to manage their symptoms of stress and make lifestyle choices to pro-actively reduce their exposure to it. The key being to get to know the way you experience stress and what triggers health impacting reactions. To then identify and follow reactive and pro-active measures to limit its affects can greatly improve wellbeing and a sense 'I am in charge of how I react to situations and therefore how much stress I generate'. This in itself can be a life changing realization.
